Activities
  • Identify transition strategies most often used in the delivery of NCDB TA
  • Develop a bibliography of articles related to evidence-based practices in Transition
  • Identify a national partner to assist in the delivery of a the promising practice of Customized Employment (CE)
  • Conduct presentation on CE at NCDB National Topical conference
  • Design and develop a pilot project on CE
  • Develop new OPIs in CE
  • Work with state deaf-blind projects to identify ten teams focusing on 20 students for TA in the area of CE
  • Deliver training and TA through webinars
  • Develop regional workshop to help teams achieve implementation
  • Investigate/explore potential partners/stakeholders with whom to share information
  • Promote the emergence of a community of practice among 10 states involved in CE
  • Review the NSTTAC Indicator 13 training materials and toolkit
  • Identify potential collaborative activities with state deaf-blind project around Indicator 13
  • Plan a national webinar with NSTTAC on I-13 and implications for DB children
Projected Outcomes
  • Increase the number of national partners in transition for students who are deaf-blind
  • NCDB and state deaf-blind project staff will increase knowledge of evidence-based and promising practices in transition
  • State deaf-blind projects and service providers will increase use of evidence based and promising practices in transition
  • State deaf-blind projects and service providers will increase knowledge of CE
  • Ten states will implement CE strategies for twenty students who are deaf-blind
  • State deaf-blind projects and service providers will increase knowledge of the requirements of SPP Indicator 13
  • NSTTAC training materials will include case studies of students with deaf-blindness
  • Increase in the number of IEP's with appropriate transition statements & goals
Impact
  • The number of students who are deaf-blind having appropriate transition and IEP goals will increase leading to more appropriate training in school and improved transition outcomes upon leaving school.
  • Twenty young adults will be employed
