Activities
  • Analyze birth to three from the National Deaf-Blind Child Count
  • Survey State Deaf-blind projects
  • Conduct focus groups with selected state deaf-blind projects
  • Develop materials for implementation/demonstration of effective practices
  • Identify state deaf-blind projects for participation in model demonstration activities
  • Conduct model demonstration in selected states.
Projected Outcomes
  • Increased knowledge of effective practices for early identification of children with deaf-blindness
  • Increased use of effective practices for early identification of children with deaf-blindness within selected states
  • Increase in number and types of collaborative activities between state deaf-blind projects and those providing services to 0-3 population
Impact
  • Increased number of children under age 3 included in the annual National Child Count and receiving effective services
