NCDB HIGHLIGHTS

Innovations in Technology

Area 1

Representatives from five state deaf-blind projects, Colorado, California, Washington, Idaho and Montana, gathered in Denver to explore strategies for the use of distance technology in the delivery of technical assistance. Consultant Larry Edelman, shared numerous no-cost and low-cost technologies that could offer solutions both innovative and cost effective. Each participant left with an action plan and a commitment to trying out different strategies. One of the new applications explored was Animoto, a program that turns pictures, videos and text into unique video pieces. Watch this short video capturing participant’s reflections on the TA activity. For more on Animoto, visit www.animoto.com

Kansas

NCDB is working with the School for the Blind in Kansas and the Kansas Deaf-Blind Project to provide technical assistance to teams working with deaf-blind students in the state via distance technologies. The Kansas Distance Mentorship Project will use interactive videoconferencing software and Wikis to provide a medium for information exchange. For more details, take a look at the brochure, the checklist, and the cooperative agreement form being used.
