Carol Wetherell. Indiana Deaf-Blind Services Project. Carol Wetherell: I spoke to a father today and he was talking about how how wonderful the experience it was because his daughter doesn't have anybody in their town. The closest person is a five year old and she's [his daughter] 19. Mike Fagbemi: Um. Carol: Um. An hour and a half away is a fifteen year old. And so she just doesn't have anybody to really to connect with. And so, now she has a network. And you know, I said with social media the way it is, hopefully they will be able to take that away. You know, and it's only an email or a text or they have friends. And maybe it's not you know in their back yard, but they're close enough to connect and you know the goal is--we'll see them next year at the next institute. You know, it's just, it's rewarding because as one father said: My daughter's pretty quiet, but when I saw her in there with her peers she's a whole different child. And she just woke up. Her eyes opened up and she is, you know, nobody would ever know that she is very, very, ah very quiet and pretty introverted. And how exciting for him, but how exciting for her that she found people to connect to, that can connect back with her.
