TITLE: Importance of Calendars - Johanna Borg

For a person walking in, you know, they are just seeing something on a table or in a book or however you design the calendar
I'm not sure that a person walking in truly gets what all of that is
I know I didn't get it initially, I thought how is this going to work for a child? How is this really going to provide this kid with knowledge of what's doing to come next?
And emotional support for that child and it wasn't until I started using it myself that I realized, okay, this stuff does work. You know, it seems so
weird, it seems maybe simplistic to people but there's power behind that calendar.
Um, you know it provides these kids with knowledge, predictability, stability, all the emotional support.
and I'm not gonna lie, you're not gonna start out implementing a calendar and everything's going to be great and fine and the kids are going
to get it right off the bat. It's going to take time, it's going to take a lot of time for that child to really understand what that calendar is
and what it can do for him or her and I think what I would say to people who are implementing calendars is
Don't give up, you know keep using it, when you think it's not working they're gonna surprise you.
