TITLE: Kristin - Interview [Visual Description] A student is sitting on a couch with a woman next to her. There is an interpreter directly in front of the student and another woman asking the student questions. KATHEE SCOGGIN: Can you talk to me a little bit about your social life? KRISTIN: about what? KATHEE: About your social life? Who are your friends? What do you do with your friends? Or do you mostly do things with family? KRISTIN: I don't have lots of friends. I only have one really best friend who's been friends with me our whole life. We used to have someone we lived right next door to back on Marshall street She - her name is Julie Chase she and I have been friends since she was one year old and I was two years old. KATHEE: Wow. That's a long time. KRISTIN: I know. (laughs) KATHEE: So have you made friends at the college? Well there are certain people who do talk to me and like me just hard to know everybody's name right now because I have to listen to the interpreter the whole time because I'm paying attention to the sign language. It's too noisy to talk to them. No one knows enough signs to talk to me with. Except for, well a few teachers do but Some of them don't know the sames one I do. My brother, you know, uses the bad words. [Kathee and Kristin laugh] I don't want that. KATHEE: When you see your best friend... is it Julie? KRISTIN: We have not seen each other since graduation. That was back in 1996... Back before my graduation, when I had a party over at my aunt's house my aunt used to live two houses down the street KATHEE: Oh, I see.
