This session will provide an overview of the impact of cortical visual impairment and multiple disabilities on availability for learning, and an updated approach to biobehavioral assessment and intervention for children and youth who require additional supports to increase their availability for learning. A new assessment tool, Assessment of Biobehavioral States: Supporting Availability for Learning for Students with Multiple Disabilities including DeafBlindness & Profound Intellectual & Multiple Disabilities, which was created by the presenter and based on a review of research across fields, will be shared with participants.
