Discussion Board Activity - Communication Forms:

Choose a communication form that your student currently uses. Do a web search to find out more about it.  If you do not currently work with someone who is deaf-blind, use an example from the video of Briana, the student you met during the Inquiry Challenge.

Respond to the following and post your answers to the discussion board.

  • What did you learn about this communication form that you did not already know?
  • Provide an example of your student successfully using this form of communication.

 

 

  

Takeaway

Individuals with deaf-blindness use a wide variety of communication forms and, like most people who are hearing-sighted, they use multiple forms for communication. In order to help a student develop language fluency, we need to identify the communication forms that are easiest for him to use.
