Discussion Board Activity - Fitting Routines into the School Day

Throughout this module we have addressed all of the benefits of routines. In educational settings, however, it can be challenging to fit routines in amidst all the activities of the school day and pressures from other staff members.

What challenges have you faced when trying to provide a student with the time she needs to complete a routine? What suggestions do you have for ensuring routines are used?

Takeaway

There are many ways that routines can be used to benefit a student with deaf-blindness. You can use routines to promote communication and learning, provide opportunities for interactions and the development of social skills, and enhance independence.
